Tasarım kavramının liderlik bağlamında mimarlığa yansıması

Abstract

Toplumların temsil görevini üstlenen liderler, kendilerine tanınan meşru güç aracılığıyla, ekonomi, savaş, siyaset, sağlık, çevre, kent, sanat ve kültür gibi, yaşamın her alanında, kitlelerin geleceğini belirleyebilecek nitelikte kararlar verebilmektedirler. Bu bakımdan, sosyal yaşamın zorunlu kıldığı ve aynı zamanda köklü bir geçmişi olan liderlik kavramının, günümüz bilgi ve iletişim çağında da son derece önemli olduğu görülmektedir. Diğer yandan; toplumsal yaşayış biçimlerini değiştirebilme potansiyeline sahip olan mimarinin de geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de liderler tarafından ideolojik bir araç olarak kullanılmaya devam edildiği görülmektedir. Toplumsal belleği yansıtan anıtsal tasarımın yanı sıra; yaşam alanları ile ekonomik ve sosyal ilişkilerin genel niteliklerinin belirlendiği kentsel tasarım da liderlerin ideolojilerine hizmet etmektedir. Bu bakımdan, lider ve liderlik tarzı, ideoloji ve liderlerin mimari tasarım yaklaşımları arasındaki ilişki, önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmada, demokratik ve baskıcı liderlik tarzlarının mimariye yansımasının, demokratik liderler olarak Mustafa Kemal Atatürk ve Thomas Jefferson; baskıcı liderler olarak Napolyon Bonapart ve Adolf Hitler örnekleri üzerinden somutlaştırılarak anlaşılabilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda; ilk olarak, liderlik ve ideoloji, sonrasında ise demokratik ve baskıcı liderlik kavramları eşliğinde, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Thomas Jefferson, Napolyon Bonapart ve Adolf Hitler'in ideolojileri ile mimari tasarım yaklaşımları arasındaki ilişki üzerinde durulmuştur. Son olarak; lider ve tasarım ilişkisi, liderler bağlamında karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Böylelikle demokratik ve baskıcı liderlerin mimari tasarımı ele alış biçimleri ile liderlik anlayışları arasındaki ilişkinin anlaşılabilmesinde yeni yaklaşımlar ileri sürülmüştür.

Leaders who take on the duty of representation of the societies are able to make decisions that can determine the future of the masses in all areas of life such as the economy, war, politics, health, environment, city, art and culture through the legitimate power which has granted to them. In this respect, it is seen that the concept of leadership, which social life necessitates and at the same time has a deep rooted past, is also extremely important in today's information and communication age. On the other hand; it seems that the architecture, which has the potential to change the forms of social life, continues to be used as an ideological vehicle by the leaders today as it was in the past. In addition to the monumental design that reflects social memory, urban design, in which the general qualities of living spaces, and economic and social relations are determined, also serves to the ideologies of the leaders. In this respect, the relationships between leader and leadership style, ideology and architectural design approaches of leaders is important. In this study, it is aimed that the reflection of democratic and authoritarian leadership styles in architecture can be understood through the concrete examples of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Thomas Jefferson as democratic leaders and Napoleon Bonapart, and Adolf Hitler as authoritarian leaders. In this context, the relationship between the ideologies and design approaches of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon Bonapart, and Adolf Hitler have been elaborated firstly with the concepts of leadership and ideology, and then with the concepts of democratic and authoritarian leadership. Finally; the relationship between leader and design has been reviewed comparatively in the context of the leaders. This way, new approaches have been proposed for understanding the relationship between democratic and authoritarian leaders' approaches to architectural design and their conception of leadership.
