Issue Date: | 2022 | Publisher: | Elsevier Science Sa | Abstract: | Titanium diboride (TiB2)-Chitosan (Chit) composite coatings were successfully produced by electrophoretic deposition techniques (EPD) from a suspension containing chitosan decorated TiB2 particles. The effect of process parameters (applied voltage, deposition time and solid concentration) on the morphological, microstructural, thickness and adhesion behavior of the composite coatings have been investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. Suspension properties and the mechanism of EPD of composites were discussed. The results showed that chitosan decorated TiB2 particles were successfully deposited on Ti surface with uniform, crack-free by EPD. Different amount of chitosan is considered to have a significant effect on the adhesion to the substrate. The development of high wettability, homogeneous porous structure is expected to be suitable for the proliferation of cells and it has a high potential for orthopedic application. | URI: | https://doi.org/10.1016/j.matchemphys.2022.125927 https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.13087/2627 |
